Scholarships

Rho Lambda Lambda Memorial Scholarships were established to honor the enduring legacy of our brothers who have passed on, but whose impact continues to shape our community. These scholarships serve as a tribute to their character, leadership, and commitment, ensuring that their memory lives on through meaningful support for future generations.

Each award is dedicated to recognizing individuals who embody the same values our brothers stood for—integrity, service, brotherhood, and academic excellence. By investing in students who demonstrate these qualities, we not only remember those we have lost, but also carry forward the principles they lived by.

Through the Rho Lambda Lambda Memorial Scholarships, we celebrate lives that made a difference and create opportunities for others to continue that legacy.

Please keep in mind a Student Consent & Media/Essay Release is due with every Rho Lambda Lambda Scholarship Application. Students will need a signature of a guidance counselor and parent on the form.

Dr. Joseph Gardner III Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Joseph Gardner Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to support the academic pursuits of outstanding students dedicated to excellence in STEM or Finance.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be accepted to Rutgers University or New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)

  • Must be majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or Finance

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Award Amount: $1,000

This scholarship honors the legacy of Joseph Gardner by empowering future leaders in STEM and Finance.

 

Deadline: April 30th

Essay Question:
Explain how education will help you break barriers or create opportunities for yourself and others. What obstacles have you faced, and how will achieving your educational goals allow you to make a positive impact in your community or career field? (750 word minimum)

 

Anthony Severin Memorial Scholarship

The Anthony Severin Memorial Scholarship is awarded to support and uplift male students who are pursuing their education at Bloomfield College, in honor of a legacy rooted in perseverance, excellence, and community impact.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a current student at Bloomfield College or planning to attend Bloomfield College

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Award Amount: $1,000

This scholarship celebrates the life and values of Anthony Severin by empowering young leaders committed to academic and personal growth.

Deadline: April 30th

Essay Question:
Describe a time when you had to balance school with work, family, or other responsibilities. How did you manage your time, what challenges did you face, and what did this experience teach you about perseverance and responsibility?

Jemel Williams Memorial Scholarship

 

In honor of Jemel Williams’ legacy of excellence and community impact, we are proud to offer the Jemel Williams Memorial Scholarship to support promising young men in their pursuit of higher education.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Student athletes

  • Minority students

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Currently attending Seton Hall University or Accepted to Seton Hall

Award Amount: $1000

This scholarship aims to uplift and empower young men dedicated to academic achievement, leadership, and giving back to their communities.

 

Deadline: April 30th

Explain why this quote is meaningful to you and how it reflects your values, experiences, and future goals.

Christopher Barton Memorial Scholarship

The Chris Barton Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to recognize and support the academic achievements of young men at Irvington High School who demonstrate potential and dedication to their future.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a senior currently attending Irvington High School

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Award Amount: $1,000

This scholarship honors the memory of Chris Barton by investing in the next generation of leaders from the Irvington community.

Deadline: April 30th

Describe a leadership experience that helped shape who you are today. What role did you play, what challenges did you encounter, and how did this experience influence your goals, character, or commitment to helping others? (750 word minimum)
